Today we were in the little town of Kendle. The first thing we did today was we went to a shop. After we had gone to that shop, mum went of to do more shopping and me my dad and my sister's went to the park. When my mum came back we went to a shoe store to get my dad a pair of shoe's. While my dad was choosing shoe's my mum my sister's and I went to another store to buy purse's for my sister's {and we were fighting like pig's and embarrassing my mum } Then dad came to pick us up and to take us back to Derby. On the way back we stopped at the betrix potter world. Now for you who don't know her she was a famous children's story maker. Her stories are about animal's. Then we went on to Derby.

Dear Oscar,
ReplyDeleteDo you get these letters from me on your blog? No one has said thanks for writing, so maybe you haven't received anything from us yet? Perhaps you can tell me where these letters are going to when they zoom off into cyberspace?
Thanks for telling us about your time in Kendal. You are doing lots of shopping so maybe the goods are specially nice ones. Fancy those naughty children fighting like pigs! I'm not sure that I have seen a pig fight. I've seen them pushing and shoving each other for the food in the trough at Scandrett's Bay. Those were the days when our boys gave the pigs all our banana skins!
Uncle Vaughan has been here for the Labour Day holiday and he has to fly back to Auckland tonight before Dad and I go to Band. We went to the NZ Secondary Schools concert in Nelson last night and they were all great, young players. Grandpapa conducted his Riffs and Ructions piece which he composed for the Nelson Brass Academy earlier this year. He was very popular with all the students and they were really neat friendly teenagers.
Oscar I need too tell you about using apostrophe S in your writing. It takes too much time to stop and do the apostrophe so don't bother using it when it is not correct to do so. Do you see I have used 's in my letter for Contractions. That is for don't which is a contracted form of Do not. Also in I'm and I've in my first paragraph.
The other place to use it is for Possessives: if something belongs to someone else. Examples are Oscar's rabbit, or Dad's new shoes.
It is wrong to use it for my sisters, my shoes, their purses, pigs or animals. Do you see that these are plural words and they are not possessives in your sentences? I hope this helps and it will certainly save you lots of time in having to stop and use the shift key!
Do you know that this IPad is very clever and every time that it does not like my spelling it comes up with the correct spelling and replaces my word! It's amazing! ( In It's I am using a short form of it is and that is why I need the apostrophe) Here endeth your English lesson for today.
We are thinking of you all at Disneyland and we can imagine your absolute joy at seeing Mickey and all his friends and relations! We hope you have fun meeting French people!
With lots of love from Granma and Grandpapa
Having fun in England? Sure miss you guys here.
